Chapter Overview
This collection of links guides you through the multifaceted dimensions of the location where the Friedensmal stands. It ranges from the historical connection to the Ashkenazi SchUM cities to a former labor camp in Bensheim-Hochstädten, an external camp of the Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp. Here in the neighboring cities Speyer, Worms and Mainz (SchUM cities) the Ashkenazi Jewish culture developed in the High Middle Ages.
Local past - Here you find some information about the Greek forced laborers and the inmates of a concentration camp. They had to work in an armaments factory in Bensheim-Hochstädten, that belonged to the sattelite camp Bensheim-Auerbach.
